Programming Languages: Application and Interpretation

This book has been in my radar for a long time.I’ve been meaning to dive a bit more into programming theory. It was either this book or Crafting Interpreters. In the end, I selected this book because it uses racket, which I want to code in and it seems to be presenting the material in an interesting way.

A&DS - By Pavel Mavrin

An excellent lecture series on Algorithms and Data structure by a world class competitive programmer Pavel Mavrin. I watched one of his videos and really liked the way he taught. This a good chance to refresh on algorithms, solving some small coding problems on the side. There are 61 more than 1 hr videos. It is indeed going to be huge time investment but it something I’ve wanted to get better at.

Spoils of the Egyptian

This is lecture series by Alexandar Stepanov. It also has an accompanying book called FROM MATHEMATICS TO GENERIC PROGRAMMING, which should give you an idea of what the lecture series are about. Alexandar’s enthusiasm is very insipiring the videos are actually quite entertaining with all the tangents and historical anecdotes.

Reading

I have a big list of books I want to read which includes fiction, non fiction and everything in between. For now, I am focusing on finishing these two:

  1. The Essence of Software - Daniel Jackson
  2. Life is Problem Solving - Karl Popper
  3. On Writing Well - William Zinsser
